VOGUE fashion director Lucinda Chambers has given her verdict on Raf Simons' first couture show for Dior- the designer's debut offering for the label since he was made creative director in April this year.

보그 패션 디렉터인 루신다 챔버스가 라프 시몬스의 첫 꾸뛰르 쇼에 답신을 보냈다. 이번 디올 꾸뛰르 쇼는 올해 4월 크리에이티브 디렉터로 임명된 이후 라프 시몬스가 디올 디자이너로서 보여주는 데뷔 무대다.  

"It was what you hoped for and more - it was such a beautiful homage to Dior, a mix of the modern, clean and unexpected with a real lightness of touch," Chambers told us after the show this afternoon. It was more elegant than elegant and he trod a brilliant line of being him and being respectful of Dior, I loved it."

챔버스는 오늘 오후 쇼가 끝난 뒤 "당신이 무엇을 소망하고 원하는지에 대한 쇼였다 - 이번 꾸뛰르는 디올을 위한 너무나 아름다운 경의이며, 현대와 혼합되었으면서 깔끔하고 전혀 예상치 못했던 경쾌한 묘사였다"라며 "우아함보다 더 우아했고, 라프 시몬스는 그 자신의 눈부신 활약으로 발을 내딛었으며 디올에게 존경을 표했다. 정말 맘에 들었던 쇼였다." 고 말했다.  

One of the most talked-about debuts in fashion history, Simons' offering mixed his signature minimal, aesthetic with the pretty, femininity of Dior - signifying that the future of this iconic brand lays in very safe hands.

패션사에서 데뷔에 대해 가장 많이 입에 오르내리는 사람들 중 한 명인 시몬은 이번 쇼에서 혼합된 그의 미니멀 서명과 함께 장신구에는 심미성을, 디올에는 여성성을 제공했다. 이것은 디올의 미래가 매우 믿을만한 손에 맡겨져 있음을 나타내는 것이다.

"It was architectural and feminine at the same time," added Chambers. "The mood was very expectant."

챔버스는 "이번 쇼는 건축적이면서도 동시에 여성미가 있었다"며, "분위기는 기대를 매우 고조시켰다."고 덧붙였다.

Dior has been the centre of fashion gossip since February last year, when its then-creative director, John Galliano, was arrested for making anti-Semitic remarks in a Parisian bar and sacked two months later in April. The rumour mill went into overdrive regarding which designer might succeed him, with mooted names having included Marc Jacobs, Haider Ackermann, Hedi Slimane, Stefano Pilati, Erdem and Riccardo Tisci.

디올은 작년 2월부터 패션계 가십의 중심이었다. 크리에이티브 디렉터였던 존 갈리아노가 페르시안 바에서 반유대주의적 발언으로 체포되어, 2달 후인 4월에 해고되었기 때문이었다. 이 엄청났던 가십은 과연 누가 그의 뒤를 이을 것인가에 뜨거운 관심으로 모아지기 시작했다. 근거는 없지만 마크 제이콥스, 하이더 아커만, 에디 슬리먼, 스테파노 필라티, 에뎀, 그리고 리카르도 티시의 이름이 언급되었었다.
